Northern Michigan Foraging Weekend
Spend some foraging in Michigan’s beautiful north woods! This is a camp for all experience levels. The main focus of this camp will be actual, on the ground, foraging. The timing of the camp is set to (hopefully) let us catch the peak blueberry harvest. But we will be looking for all kinds of other edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms as well. In addition we will have some more formal class sessions covering plant and mushroom ID to help you learn these important foraging skills. And we will have campfire discussions where you will learn tips and tricks and, most importantly, how to recognize the plants and mushrooms that can seriously harm you.
8/7-8/10 on private property near Onaway MI. Participants will be emailed the specific address a few days before the camp.
Cost includes camping for the weekend (your own tent, hammock, or small camper), multiple guided foraging sessions on nearby state lands, and materials for the classes and campfire discussions. Important note: To keep costs down, this camp does not include meals.
