Donate to Our Scholarship Fund!

from $25.00

Will Forage for Food isn’t just a place to learn, it’s a community. And I want every member of our community to have access to classes. Regardless of their ability to pay. I also want to encourage young people to attend classes. So I have created a scholarship and work study program.

Unfortunately, some classes have limited space and we live in a society where I have to pay bills. So I can’t always give spots away for free. This scholarship fund is a way for community members who live comfortably to offer a helping hand to those who are struggling. So that everyone can learn, without creating an undo burden on my finances in the process.

Here’s how it works:

Community members donate to the fund, and then I use that money to cover the cost of scholarships. The vast majority of the funds donated are used to cover scholarships for the Great Lakes Foragers Gathering, but scholarships are available for other classes as well. If you would like to donate to the scholarship fund, you can do so here.

Eligibility:

For the Great Lakes Foragers Gathering- We have numerous work study spots to fill, so anyone ages 18-70 who is capable of work study will be asked to work rather than use the scholarship fund. Scholarships are available to anyone ages 13-18. We also offer scholarships to our elders, over 70. On a case by case basis we also offer scholarships in circumstances where finances are problematic but working at the event may be challenging. This includes (but is not limited to) those with disability/chronic illness who have limited spoons and single parents who are bringing young children with them.

For all other classes and events- Scholarships cover ages 13-25, and individuals with low or fixed income. Availability varies.

If you are in need of financial assistance to attend a class or event, please contact me at rhmifsud@gmail.com.
